IF: rain

Black rain feel it upon your skin as it captures
your shadow on the concrete wall,
beside what use to be you.

  2. Your painting is lovely and the words are powerful.
The black rain, pain and destruction made me think of that horrible day March 19, 2003 when the U.S. began it's hideous aerial assault on Iraq...

  7. The paintings made me think of Hiroshima, the black rain came back the second time-i'm thinking radiation poisening-any war though would pour down an evil rain for a very long time I believe. Your artwork is powerful and beautiful and heart wrenching.

The words etched on her back, and the words on the right of the pieces, especially the words-beside what used to be me-very sad and frightening. Strong and unique work!

  10. Haunting words... Yeah, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, right?... The pain and sadness that humans can inflict on other humans boggles the mind. I like the muted colors in the second one.

  14. Hi Michael,

Powerful take on "rain." I like the sketch version especially, with the figure faded and the words full-strength.

  19. Yes...it makes me think of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and it makes me feel very sad. This is such a powerful, compelling image with the tension between the beauty of the figure and the horror of the words. Well done!

  26. This is so beautiful and sad. The colours and lines are reminiscent of woodcuts. In fact these should be prints on rice paper! The colour schemes are gorgeous.
